Committed to Remain

Introduction

Last Sunday, we learned that those who want to live the new must take a stand.

Examples: Abraham, Moses, Peter...

Today we will learn that those who position themselves to receive also must remain in order to live — and not only that, but also pass it on to their household.

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial; for after he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life. (James 1:12)

The crown of life will come only after perseverance.

Your Faith Must Be Continuous

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit; for without me you can do nothing. (John 15:4–5)

How many times do we have faith to start and take a stand, but not enough faith to wait?

How many have started Maturity?

How many have started a business?

A process?

But did not finish it!

Many people want promises, but few want perseverance.

The crown of life will come only after perseverance.

Pass On Your Faith

The faith I receive is the faith I pass on.

And these words that I command you today shall be in your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. (Deuteronomy 6:6–7)

This is God’s plan for the spiritual formation of your family.

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

This verse declares an eternal principle:

Work without God = effort in vain

The Covenant Begins at the Table

You take a stand to receive; then you sit at the table to remain in the covenant.

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)

"Whenever" is not a one-time action, but a continuous one — an act of perseverance.

Communion is not a ritual nor a doctrine; Communion is a continuous covenant with the Lord.
